The Beauty That Was Forgotten

There was once a ravish castle atop a hill with a walled in city around it. The castle held enough jobs for all the people of the town to be keep busy throughout the day. The owner of the castle had a lot of pride in his accomplishment and it was shown by the architecture of his castle and the treasures within. It was the most beautiful castle to be seen for miles. One would then imagine the city at the base of the hill would be equal as beautiful. But the walls were just high enough to display the castle. The wall then casted a haze over the town below it, hiding its appearance from passers. This made the owner demand that the castle be the most beautiful sight. This demand made the townspeople work day in and day out to keep the castle as beautiful as possible. The intensive work made the people too tired to care about their own homes that were hidden in the
dusk of the wall. This also meant the people didn't see a need to keep the town beautiful if their beauty would just be hidden and overshadowed by the castle that sat atop the hill. This feeling started to be contagious as more and more people felt the same way, causing the town to look like a ghost town. Ghosts of the townspeople walk the streets to go to the castle to work and then return in the late hours. This, along with the haze that swallowed the little town made travelers scared to approach the gates until there was no one who’d dare go see the beautiful castle. The only admirers the castle had was its owner and the townspeople who had to keep it beautiful. After some time, the castle disappeared from everyone else's memories and became a story, just like the one you're reading now.
